Asked how she copes with challenging situations, Yvonne replied that one must live within a sustaining environment and this includes your own wisdom, which is what she means by walking on the edge between conflicting social conditions and consequences. This is what sustains you when you feel pushed towards something that doesn't fit your sense of your own integrity. In response to being asked how she would like to be remembered, Yvonne said:
Knowing that my children and my grandchildren and the next generation to come can build on my work, the same way I did with my mother, my grandmother and my father, who in their own rights were social activists—so that they can be comfortable walking on the edge.
We are all here, just doing different things and at different moments in time.
